Payroll: New York Disability Benefit Law Paid Family Leave Law

Employers that are subject to New York’s disability benefit law are also subject to paid family leave law. The deduction is based on a percentage of the employee’s salary up to a maximum of New York State’s average weekly wage. This average weekly wage is recalculated annually by the state Department of Labor. Generally, the employer secures paid family leave insurance and the premiums are funded by the deductions from the employee’s wages.

Ohio House Bill 5 (passed December 10, 2014) standardized many aspects of municipal taxation across the state of Ohio, but it also changed one provision relevant to us: Clergy wages are subject to withholding for city taxes beginning January 1, 2016.
